This project started out as a refurbishment and extension, but when the strip out revealed numerous problems with the existing structures, it turned into a ground-up build. The contract included contractor's designed portion, meaning that while the architect provided the concept and overall drawings it was left to us in conjunction with the project manager to come up with innovative design solutions to many of the technical aspects of construction. This included articulating metal, wood, glass and brick materials into a seamless, stylish whole and producing the resulting stunning, avant-garde home inside a traditional, Victorian, industrial shell.
